While I did say that I was going spend my free time working on the Geeky Guide, I wasn't prepared to go kinda bonkers about it. But I guess it takes certain kind of crazy to learn how to use a platform like Webflow only with the help of Google Gemini.
Thus far, I've generally completed (in terms of design) my databases on Airtable, finally got Power Importer working to bring my data into Webflow, and I managed to get the basic board game review page set up. All these things don't sound all that impressive as items in a list, but it had taken a LOT of going back and forth between Gemini's advice, what I'm seeing in the platforms, and whatever else I can figure out on my own. Think of it as guided trial and error in many cases.
It was enough trial and error to have me stay up until 09:00am. I'm a stubborn man when I really get into something, but at least I went to be with the satisfaction of having gotten the game review page configured how I wanted it and ready to receive future input from the database. I just need to get to writing over 1600 reviews, then we'll really be cooking with gas.
My expenses for this project are beginning to accumulate, but that's just how it goes. I'm telling myself that all of this is an investment in a longer term (potential) revenue stream, as long as I get everything set up correctly. And actually subscribing for the different services that I need is making all this very, very real. That's probably why I stayed up all night working on this. I'm definitely feeling the pressure to get the site published. And even after that, it's going to be at least 3 months before I stand a chance of hitting the kind of site traffic numbers that I need to start earning more serious money.
Wish me luck, everyone. This is going to be some serious content creation in a rather limited amount of time.
