02F7F: Future Content Planning

Thursday - Chicken Poppers & Cabbage

After several days of working on the new board games, today felt oddly quiet without that sort of geekery. We have at least one game night set for tomorrow night, so we're still going to get our fix of geekery for the weekend. I think we'll be able to get at least one new board game to the table this weekend. Maybe more if we allocate our Sunday afternoon to learning new games.

In other considerations, a side conversation at work has me thinking more about the future and what life would be like outside the agency life. And like most, I have no intentions of working this hard forever. So we need to find alternate revenue streams that still help us earn without stressing us out.

To that end, I've started a lengthy Gemini chat to discuss just this. I've asked it to factor in my work experience, my interests, my blogs, and a lot of my geekery to see what it can do with that. It offered me an interesting range of options, starting from very technical things to more creative efforts. There's a sweet spot in the middle that is starting to appeal to me that should make use of my digital marketing skills and my content geekery.

The potential focus of a lot of these efforts is my old review blog, The Geeky Guide to Nearly Everything. The site has been largely inactive for some time, but I'm still paying for a custom URL for the site because the digital marketer in me recognizes the value of this older domain. I've been wanting to revive the blog for some time, but I also wanted my efforts to make sense or have some sort of return. If I can figure out the technical stuff that Gemini is suggesting, I might have a way to find a new purpose for the site with a distinct focus on board games and maybe books & comics.

But we have one more workday to get through first before I can free up more headspace for all this.
