My Unionbank credit card was finally delivered today, bringing my Unionbank drama to an end (for now?) after all that drama. It still took another call last Friday to nudge the delivery again, but at least it's finally here. And now I'm going through the process of activating the card, getting the online stuff set up, and adding it to the different merchants I plan to use it with.
After many years of being a BPI-only customer, it's rather interesting to look into another bank's benefits. BPI is still the superior card for foreign transactions, given its low foreign transaction fee that outweighs Unionbank offering up to 3x rewards points for overseas dining and shopping transactions. But that bonus for shopping and dining has some appeal, and I'm studying when it's best to use this card versus others. Plus, I have a bit of a spending minimum that I need to hit in the next two weeks so that I maximize the value of my new customer offer. Math is your friend, everyone!
I do have a new customer service concern - activating my new Unionbank card as a Google Pay/Wallet tap-to-pay method. I tried to add it on my own, but it claims that bank verification is no longer accepted at this time, and I needed to contact my bank to resolve things. Customer service was a little weird about this, and things ended with yet another ticket filed and a promise of resolution in 24 hours. Based on my experiences since December, I'm not exactly holding my breath here. It'll get resolved eventually - I just don't know when.
In other news, we finally finished the second season of Culinary Class Wars, and we're all just okay with things. The ending was the ending, but the show really lost steam after that horrendous "All or Nothing" challenge. Then it just became a generic cooking show instead of a true "class war" as the title indicates. Plus, it feels like we didn't really have strong personalities in the show. It's hard to say if that reflects the roster of chefs or if it's more about most of them not getting as much airtime, so we didn't get to know them all that well as compared to the first season.
This leaves us more room for the second season of The Boyfriend, which remains nicely low-stakes like the first season. And somewhere along the way, we'll finish the last of Boys Over Flowers. The show is such a drag!
