02F76: Relaxation Alternatives

Tuesday - Ramen & Gyoza

As work was (again) a lot, we had scheduled a massage session after work. After last week's Infinity Spa experiment, we opted to go back to our usual nearby spa. It's pricier than other spas in the area, but the service quality has been pretty consistent despite their lack of other facilities like a sauna or whatever. As we arrived, the receptionist gave us a heads-up that all of their branches were increasing rates, which is a bit of a bummer. Their other locations tend to have other facilities, and it's only this BF branch that never got that upgrade, so it feels like an increase just for the sake of an increase. We'll probably still go due to the sheer convenience of location, but I don't think we'll go as often as before.

I'm having Gemini help me parse through review data of other spas in the area, and it seems finding quality spas with male therapists isn't the easiest thing in the world. We may end up going to Infinity a few more times due to the sheer lack of options, but I'll keep looking. It was serviceable but definitely not on the same level of massage quality as what we get closer to home. But at least it's significantly cheaper, and we get to steam a bit (at our own risk). Going back to home service options, like when we were in BGC, is another route to go, as there are some dedicated services focused on the home service market, but I also like not needing to clean up after (LOL).

I've gone through the new Absolute comics for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman lately, and I really like what the writers have done with these characters. I understand why many compare it to Marvel's Ultimate line of comics, as it does have that shared sense of getting "harder" versions of these heroes. But at the same time, they really tried to lean more into their core concepts, so Superman is more of a science hero, Wonder Woman is more magically inclined, and Batman is more Batman than ever - but he's not rich. I also tried out the 2024 New Gods comic, and MAN, what a trip. That said, I really do love Scott and Barda, and I guess I'll read just about anything that involves the two of them.

We're so close to the end of season 2 of Culinary Class Wars, and I don't feel as invested as compared to when we were watching Season 1. I think the decision to cull a significant number of black spoons in the middle of the season really left a bad taste in my mouth. And as we get to the end, you can feel the weight of production trying to make sure we end with a white spoon and a black spoon facing one another in the finals, and that just feels silly at this point. We'll still get to the end, but this season feels like a waste. The first season had much stronger character development.
