02F75: Other Visual Entertainments

Monday - Tahanan Lunch

I didn't get any work done over the weekend, so I was playing catch-up for most of today. I knew I'd have to face the music and had steeled myself for it. At least I ended the day with most of my to-do list cleared and a lot less guilt on my plate as well. I'll consider that to be a win in my book.

In lighter news, I finally got Tobie to watch Big Business yesterday after he had been amused by a snippet he had seen on social media. It's a little dated, but it's still quite the hilarious farce. And Tobie may have a point that movies like this clearly could have influenced the likes of The Devil Wears Prada, even if just in terms of the visual depictions of Miranda Priestly. The ending was a little rushed in how it resolved the relationships side of things, but hey, it's a comedy.

We also watched Agatha Christie's Seven Dials on Netflix, and it was pretty good. It was certainly a beautiful adaptation in terms of costumes and other details. The central mystery is fun enough as derived from the original book, but some aspects weren't necessarily communicated in a manner I perfectly wanted, perhaps? Something just felt missing. Still solid, and we still enjoyed the mini-series.

I'm still trying to rush clearing Boys Over Flowers, House, and Culinary Class Wars to make more room for other shows, but it's taking a while. Plus, it's easy to settle back into the hilarity of Taskmaster instead of watching anything else. I'm not sure what we're going to focus on once we have "room" to watch other things. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.
