Two new games arrived at the Sietch today after some customs-related delays at FedEx.
Tacta (Amazon affiliate link) - I figure that my enjoyment of Flip 7 (Amazon affiliate link) resulted in The Op Games content making its way into my TikTok feed. And this is how I discovered the game Tacta. It's fairly simple in concept, but it makes for quite the visually stunning table after. Plus, maybe I just like lining things up to make pretty geometric things. The fact that it's pretty much an abstract spin on an area control game should be a point against it, as I'm not the best at such things, but I'm still very eager to play this.
SETI: Space Agencies - This is an expansion for SETI, and one that came out quite soon after the release of the initial game. We have a healthy respect for games published by CGE, but naturally, this game's theme greatly appealed to me from the get-go. This expansion adds some asymmetric play elements to the game, similar to what the Expedition Leaders expansion did for Lost Ruins of Arnak. And similar to Arnak, I'm sure the game is still solid on its own without the expansion, but I see how we're probably going to always play with the new agencies moving forward.
Oh, and there's one Kickstarter release that arrived while I was in Singapore.
Rewild: South America - This project was brought to life by the same folks who created Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game, which is a great game that we don't get to play enough. But I don't have an amazing reason for wanting another set collection, tile placement game. BUT, it's a game with wooden trees and with the option to put animal meeples on top of said trees. And that's why I backed this project.
We have big game night coming up this weekend, I'm and I'm pledged to bring the first two games for the group's consideration. I might squeeze in Rewild, but I need to take the time to learn how to play it first, and there's only so much time for everything.
And I still haven't gotten around to learning how to place Scarface 1920 either...
