02F65: Within Sietch Orbit

Saturday - With the Roseros

Last night, while watching The War Between Land and Sea, I had joked to Tobie that I was craving pizza. We eventually gave in and tried ordering via Foodpanda (for Shopback!), and the order was accepted...then never left processing. The app kept telling us the order was still being prepared, but the expected delivery time wouldn't go below 60 minutes. Eventually, we cancelled the order since we figured the restaurant had closed and shouldn't have accepted the order in the first place. Instead of ordering again, Tobie offered to drive out to find something to eat, and we were again reminded that the immediate area - including the BF Home strip along Aguirre St. - is pretty much dead after 09:00pm. After passing through BF and going out to Sucat Road, we settled for McDonald's since they were open, at least.

Our main activity for today was a foot spa appointment I had scheduled at the last minute at the salon right outside the village. I had messaged right before midnight, so I had no idea if the appointment was going to push through, but we mapped out waking up by noon anyway. When I did get up, I saw they had accepted our request, so I got Tobie moving so we could make it. We left the Sietch pretty early as we figured we could grab coffee at the rather pretentious coffeeshop below the salon. To our surprise, they had rebranded into an even more pretentious coffeeshop and were in soft opening mode. This meant they could only prepare Horchata coffee and nothing else. We still ordered coffee and killed time until our foot spa appointment.

After getting our feet sanded down and back to a presentable level, we needed to figure out lunch - or maybe an early dinner? With the memories of driving around BF Homes still fresh in my mind, I suggested we settle for the cafe inside the village itself, a place we had seen a number of times but had yet to patronize.

To our surprise, we bumped into some neighbor friends who were also at the cafe. Despite living about a block away from one another, we had yet to see them since we moved to ParaƱaque, so it was nice to finally address that. We did some catching up while watching their kid run around the park, then eventually parted so we could get our first meal of the day. The food was actually pretty good for a coffeeshop - I think their mains are stronger than their more typical cafe fare. Their basic brewed coffee was not worth the free refill that comes with it, but I suppose it's serviceable enough.

We're expecting the stay home for the rest of the weekend, but at least there are still things we can enjoy in the immediate area - at least not late at night.
