Mapping out an O Bar night after a full day of travel wasn't necessarily the smartest idea but it was ultimately the right one. I had just celebrated the Christmas holidays with my actual family, and now I wanted to celebrate with my chosen ⭕ Bar family. Complications resulted in fewer people being with us at the table, but there were still other people to help make the night better. More importantly, we also got to distribute the last of our Christmas gifts for the staff and some additional pasalubong I bought while in Singapore. I really so enjoy giving out gifts - especially when they're appreciated.
We got a few gifts in return, one from an O Bar friend and a lovely set of creations from the O Boys. They always try to do something special for our birthdays and such, but this was a truly special gift. The fact that it was something they made personally instead of just buying it somewhere was kinda blew our minds. I have a photo shared on IG for those who are curious to see it. It's hard to describe in words.
We slept in and missed my laundry window, which was regrettable but understandable. The extra sleep was totally worth it. We quickly ventured out to try and find new glasses to replace my current ones since my parents promised to cover the cost as a Christmas gift. As always, it took longer to find frames that fit me, what more frames that didn't look terrible. I was actively consulting with the family as I tried on the few frames that fit my head and we finally came to a consensus of which one worked best. The grade of my left eye had gone up two steps, which was a bit of a surprise after so many years of relatively "stability". The upside is that I no longer need to buy two different grades of contact lenses. The doctor was quite insistent on confirming whether or not I needed progressive lenses but I assured her I wasn't having reading issues just yet.
For today, we've invited to friends over for board games. It's the first time we've tried this particular configuration of friends, but things have been going pretty well so far. They're both good with heavy games, so it's going to be a long night of serious gaming.
