I suppose you could say I started this Monday on the wrong side of the bed. In this case, instead of lying on my back, I had managed to twist myself over to one side, and this left my still-recovering shoulder feeling quite sore somehow. I immediately made the mistake of leaning on that side to try to get out of bed, and immediately lay back down. I had to wait for Tobie to help me out of bed since I had somewhat aggravated things. Fabulous.
I gambled on running a load of laundry today, but as a safety measure, I added a little dryer time to the cycle to speed things along. That first load went okay, and once it was time to hang the clothes to dry, the sun had actually come out. So I risked a second load, but this time I couldn't get the dryer function to work for some reason. I thought little of it and figured that I'd be able to hang everything anyway, but, of course, it started to really pour as the cycle was ending. I couldn't get the dryer to work fully after, and the best I could do was use one of the weird wash/dry presets that still didn't get everything dry. So I left the clothes to soak in the residual heat, and realistically, I'll try to hang everything tomorrow and just hope for the best. I hate it when laundry doesn't go well - and I'm so backed up because of the weather over the last few weeks.
Work was mostly okay - a lot of detailed media work that I needed to get through, but that's what I've been dealing with since last week, so it's nothing new. I also had a monthly report to work on that I could have started last week, but I deferred it to this week. But I got through that, and I was ready to end the day in a good place.
I had opted to work on one last item on my to-do list, and that resulted in me realizing something about a new tool we had just signed up for. I was hoping that it would cover a lot of different pain points we have in different departments, and so I wanted to get started with setup and eventually onboarding. But it turned out the one function it wasn't going to help with was my own work, and that felt a little like having the rug pulled out from under me. But I know it's also my own fault, as I didn't get involved when other people were testing out the platform, and I just assumed it would also address stuff on my plate. So now I need to consider what else can be done, as I have some ongoing efforts that could really benefit from some automation. But still, it's going to be a bit of a sore point for me for a while.
And even shallower, I forgot to go through the Shopback app before going to Lazada today. I logged in to check if there were any pre-9.9 sales to consider, and a few items that I had in my cart had countdown timers for 11pm. So I rather blitzed through checkout, and right after confirming payment, did I realize I had forgotten. It's not a LOT of money lost, but it was still inefficient and suboptimal and just careless. More fuel for today's fire/
And don't get me started on today's headlines related to the ongoing Senate hearings about the alleged corruption surrounding all those flood control projects and other government initiatives.
'So yeah, this all adds up to a less-than-stellar start to the week. I've never been one to let this sort of thing bring me down, but I do need to decompress a bit before diving back into things tomorrow.
