02EEB: Decent Bill of Health

Wednesday - Chicken Tinola

I went back to the orthopedic surgeon for a follow-up consult today, and he confirmed things are going well. I won't have to take any more medication. And I won't need to go through any more tests either, as he had reserved the option to make me go through an MRI if things had still been bad today. There's the option for physical therapy, but only if my recovery stalls. I'll go through some home exercises for now and monitor things over the next week.

But still, this is GREAT news and I'm so happy. I don't feel lingering pain except when I try to exert myself. I don't have my full range of motion yet, and when I do try to raise my arm, that's when I start to feel pain. I'm able to sleep without the aid of a sling, but I still have extra pillows to keep me more elevated and a bolster under my arm to provide support. I'll see if I can manage things on my own and avoid physical therapy for now. We'll see.

The doctor did remind me about avoiding overhead activities, and I accept that how I film things at O Bar has changed indefinitely. I suppose it was good that I was forced to be sober throughout my birthday weekend, as it was a good time to focus on figuring out how to film with the aid of my monopod. When there's less of a crowd, I'm able to use the additional mini-tripod legs to keep it on the table without issue. For busier nights, I'm still getting the hang of balancing it either on my stool or even my leg. Panning was still awkward, and, of course, I wasn't in a position to manage my zoom adjustments with my right arm still being quite weak. But I can only get better at things from this point on, right?

Good news for the week, indeed.
