One thing I failed to mention about yesterday's gaming event is that I ended the day in pain. Even before the game session, my right arm was already feeling rather sore, primarily due to my O Bar camera work. After the game, it felt even worse, and by the time we had settled down for bed, the pain was beyond significant. As best as I can determine, the overly high game table with the rather low chair had me resting my arm on the table in an awkward position. And given the game lasted a good 6 hours, that was a long time to be in the wrong position. I guess that became the tipping point, and it aggravated my lingering soreness into something worse.
It feels a little worse when I lie down, and this made trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in rather difficult. I started taking Ponstan last night, and that didn't have a significant impact on the level of pain I was experiencing. My mobility is shot, and raising my arm is out of the question. There's definitely inflammation, and my fingers feel a little funny at times. Even maneuvering my arm as I use the computer requires support from my left just to get things done.
I was really hoping that things would be better this morning, but it was just about the same. I managed a teleconsult, and the doctor just prescribed a different painkiller along with a muscle relaxant. If things don't change for the better in three days, then I need to do a follow-up. The diagnosis that was emailed ot me (but not mentioned specifically during the teleconsult) was Rotator Cuff Tendinitis, which sounds about right. The literature on it mentions it's more likely with repetitive overhead motions, which DEFINITELY sounds like my O Bar videography. Age is another big factor, so I just have to accept that incidents like this are more and more likely ot happen.
It's my birthday week, and I have some O Bar celebrations mapped out. I hope that I''ll be in a better place by then so that I can enjoy my birthday without too much difficulty. Injuries like this can take quite a while to heal, though, so I know things are still going to be challenging one way or another. Maybe I'll finally try using my monpod for filming instead of just raising my arm as a precautionary measure until the pain fully clears.
In other news, our online RPG session today didn't push through because of more real-life complications. It's a bit of a bummer since the same thing happened to our RPG session last week, so this month hasn't been great on this front. We still had one player with us, so we ended up playing Earth with the Abundance expansion via BGA. After, I got Tobie to help me scratch my lingering Magic: the Gathering itch, and we played two rounds of Commander with our Doctor Who decks. We each won one round, so that worked out okay.
