02ED0: A Mixed Update

Thursday - Tahanan Lunch

When I logged into Blogger today, there was a heads-up of a new beta feature they're testing called Google Search Links. Basically, it's a toggle that has Google (or specifically its AI, I assume) scan the text of your blog post, then hyperlink terms to Google searches. It's not linking to results like Wikipedia pages or something. It's just linking to a Google Search for that term. I remember using something like Zemanta back in the day to add information links to my posts, but I see now it has become a full programmatic ad DSP.  Anyway, I don't see any immediate value to the feature, so I don't foresee myself using it. Just thought it might be good to document that it exists, as I can't find any existing online literature about the feature.

My Lego Soundwave set arrived this afternoon, and I'm really excited to get into it. This is my third major Lego purchase in recent years, starting with the Voltron set, then the Keith Haring Dancing Figures, and now this one. I skipped the Optimus Prime and Bumblebee sets because, duh. We've already made plans for the weekend, but I'll see if I can squeeze in time to build this set. I really want to see what this will look like fully assembled. I know it's going to be great

Finally, we've gotten through the last of the episodes for the second season of The Sandman and...man, that was underwhelming. And while it did closely follow the stories in the comics (more or less), it just felt hollow. Some of the casting felt rather off, and many of them didn't really live up to their comic book counterparts. I'm not sure how things got this bad, given that the first season was fairly strong. For now, that's the last we're going to see of this franchise, I guess. The comics are still pretty solid, though, despite how unpopular it is to acknowledge that fact these days.

Just one more day for this workweek. Steady on, peeps.
