Last Monday, we set out for our weekly grocery run as SM BF. But when we finally went to the supermarket after dinner, we were surprised to see that there were barely any vegetables - certainly no greens. So we focused on non-perishable items to tide us over and made plans to go again on Wednesday, which is supposedly when they tend to restock.
We went again tonight, and while there was some lettuce at least, there were still no cabbages or pechay, and the rest. This didn't feel sufficient for our needs, so we decided to at least have dinner, then head over to Shopwise. I was curious to try Burger King's special Fantastic Four menu...but the buffalo chicken burger wasn't available, so that plan fizzled out as well.
Shopwise isn't our first choice for grocery shopping since it tends to be more expensive. Gone are the days when Shopwise was focused on affordability. Something happened after Robinson's acquired them, and now the Sucat branch looks like a PX goods store. For tonight, a lot of their shelves even had very prominent labels about which items were guaranteed imported...which was most of the store.
So yeah, we were able to stock up on some greens, but we didn't get a crazy amount since our fridge is small and I was unwilling to pay for extra expensive cauliflower. We picked up a few items of indulgence, but funnily, we still didn't spend enough for me to be able to claim my free pint of ice cream. There was also a special 20x points offer...but that required a single receipt purchase of at least PHP10,000, which I have never achieved at a grocery store in my life.
Shopwise really has a different target market these days.
