02EC1: Workweek Checklist Items

Wednesday - Chili Ban Mian

My Singapore work agenda for the week is an interesting mix of important internal initiatives and key client touchpoints. Just today, my last activity involved an on-site client meeting for a partner we've been working with for months. We didn't let them know that I'd be attending the meeting in person versus just dialing in remotely. It made for a pleasant surprise for them, and the resulting discussion was quite fulfilling. What a world of difference it makes when travel time to and from a meeting is only a question of minutes versus being over at least an hour - the typical situation in Manila.

In other news, I've decided to start reading the Red Rising series of books, given that we already own the board game based on the franchise. I wasn't quite expecting colors to play such a big role in the story, which then helps to explain why the board game ended up the way it did. I'm still early in the book, and I can't say that I'm not particularly blown away by the story or the writing thus far. But I'll do my best to get through the trilogy, then fully evaluate the series after. It's not easy reading, but I'm not yet sure if this is because the story hasn't quite pulled me in yet, or maybe the actual way it's written just isn't gripping me in a particular way.

If this doesn't pan out, I can always switch back to lighter LGBT fair or something.

We have loose plans for the weekend, but just need to lock things in. We're coordinating with a few others from the office, so figuring out times that work for everyone becomes a bit of a constraint that we need to work around.

Anyway, I think I need to get some rest. I'm still adapting to an earlier overall schedule since we need to be able to bring the boys to school before we go to the office. Plus, the boys continue to wake up pretty early, which means I also need to get up in order to make the most of what shared time we have together.
