02EBF: Wet and Dry Travel

Monday - Singapore Bear

Well, today was a bit of an adventure. The rainy weather from the weekend carried over into the new workweek and seemed to be worse than in the previous days. Thankfully I had woken up on time with Tobie's help and had some buffer time to book a ride to the airport. I REALLY should have tried to pre-book a Grab car to the airport versus booking on the spot as it took me a good 30 minutes to snag a car.

Thankfully, it didn't take us too long to navigate the slowly flooding roads of the South to get to the airport and things were pretty straightforward there. I cleared check-in and Immigration quite speedily, and only really had to queue for security. The airport was colder than during my last trip out, which made racking up some steps before the flight a lot more comfortable.

I had been worried that the bad weather might lead to flight delays, but boarding began on time and we had the doors closed right right around the expected time of departure. There was still a fair amount of waiting around on the tarmac before we could actually take off, but that's standard for NAIA. The flight itself as a little bumpy all throughout, but not to a degree that the pilot would have referred to it as turbulence and needed to halt in-flight services.

Despite news of rain in the morning, Singapore was actually quite sunny by the time we landed. I cleared even more steps since our gate was at the very end, so I pretty much walked the entire length of the terminal. Singapore immigration was effortless, but it did take a while for everyone's luggage to get cleared from the plane and carted over to the airport baggage area.

I actually arrived at my sister's place before my nephews got home, so that gave me a little time to freshen up first after all that. I had deliberately chosen to arrive in the late afternoon (versus early evening) so I could catch them before they headed to bed. I had My Singing Monsters toys for the older one and a mix of different transforming cars (including one actual Transformer) because quantity was very important in this case. Both were pretty happy with my gifts and I'm already being put to work transforming different toys from robot to vehicle and back again. Uncle has a lot of catching up to do.

We have a VERY full day of work tomorrow, so I'll try not to stay up too late reading before bed. I need to catch up on sleep and be prepared for nephews waking me up earlier - especially since I'm sleeping in the room they has all their toys. I've been warned that playing in the morning is part of their routine, so I'm preparing myself for an early start to the day.
