02EAD: Another Board Game Drop

Thursday - Tahanan Lunch

A bunch of Ninja Van deliveries arrived this morning across two batches. One item was pretty simple: some Transformers figures from the previous collector wave that I had ordered from Amazon. The other three boxes were all related to board game crowdfunding projects. The first one was pretty massive - the base game and expansions for Scarface 1920. The others were a bit more manageable - the Earth: Abundance expansion (with some KS upgrades for the base game) and Emberleaf, a new game from the makers of Isle of Cats

Oh, and the other day we received the deluxe edition of Rebel Princess together with the new expansion and two promo cards that I had to order directly from the publisher.

I was supposed to work on the second half of the last O Bar night before Pride, but instead, I dedicated a better part of my evening to opening games, sorting their components, and then getting them back in order. Rebel Princess was pretty easy to sort and I can probably cram everything into the base game box, but it feels too soon to through away its rather pretty (yet impractical) storybook-inspired expansion box(let). Emberleaf was also pretty easy to sort, even with the additional upgraded components and hero packs that were part of the Kickstarter, as it's still a straightforward base game.

The real monster is Scarface 1920, since there's so much expansion content (and a vinyl disc!) that they even made a storage box available just to hold all the expansion stuff. I've largely sorted through the base game,  but still need to figure out how to handle the rest of the stuff. It's weird organizing the base game components as all the guides are from the time of its original Kickstarter whereas some of the components are designed to go into the new storage box. So I'm making my best guesses for now, and then I'll get through the expansion box before circling back to the base to make sure things are in order.

I concede that I went a little crazy for this game despite never having played it - but I am quite the sucker for all-in crowdfunding pledges that allow me to get everything a game has to offer all at once. I'm weirdly feeling bad for some other projects that are starting to show off their deluxe components, as I did start trying to hold back and limit myself to the base releases instead of splurging all the time. I don't regret the deluxe sets we have now, but I'm just trying to be a bit more fiscally responsible.
