02EA8: Online Game-athon

Saturday - O Bar Chicken Poppers and Pechay

It's probably a good thing that we stayed in as the weather was rather abysmal last night. It has been raining on and off since early yesterday evening and that has continued on into today as predicted. Thus Tobie and I have just been home at the Sietch but largely online on Board Game Arena with friends.

Between last night and this afternoon, we've played a robust mix of games including Cartographers, Flip 7, Forest Shuffle, Apiary, Incan Gold, Let's Go! To Japan, Next Station: London, Next Station: Tokyo, Verdant, Ark Nova and finally a round of Terraforming Mars with Tobie over on Steam (as we have more expansions there. And we're not talking single plays here - the shorter games, particularly Flip 7, Incan Gold and the Next Station games all play quite quickly and thus open the doors to multiple rounds.

As much as we're not longer under pandemic lockdown restrictions, our playing board games online has never really stopped. Before we relied primarily on official apps on Steam for our remote play board game fix, but getting on board with Board Game Arena has been quite the game changer since (1) it's browser-based, thus no longer dependent on one's operating system, (2) it has a generous mix of games, especially if you have a Premium subscription (which isn't that expensive!), and (3) it makes for rather speedy play. Sure, there's a bit of a learning curve for figuring out how the developers configured the control for each game as this is as varied as the different rules for games in themselves, but it still makes for extra convenient gaming.

Anyway, now it's time to get ready for O Bar's Pride event, which is our primary Pride-related activity for this weekend. The weather is still a bit of a complication and I hope it won't be too difficult getting to the bar.

Happy Pride, everyone!
