02E9C: Monday Errands

Monday - Savory Dinner

After work, we made a quick run to SM BF for dinner and also to get other errands done. The main reason we go to the mall is for grocery shopping, but the tight operating hours of the mall mean we barely have time for dinner and grocery shopping. Thus, to address other intermediate goals, we mapped out going tonight just for those other errands, then we'll go back later in the week for groceries.

The first item was getting Tobie's glasses checked out. His primary reading glasses seem to have dug into his nose a bit too much, so I figured the nose guards might need replacing. We also had his grade checked, and it seems he needs to update his glasses again. We opted to get his reading glasses corrected first before his driving glasses, but didn't factor in the mall hours and weren't able to pick up the corrected pair.

Our other atypical item for the day was a lot of clothes shopping. On the functional front, I wanted to get more underwear as I had "retired" several pairs in recent months. Despite considering trying other options, we still ended up at Bench out of sheer habit or something.

The big "adventure" was finally doing some serious shirt shopping at Uniqlo. When we were still based in BGC, our default was the likes of Old Navy since the sizes were a bit more generous (read: American?) for bigger guys like me. For one reason or another, we hadn't found the need to shop at Uniqlo since most of their designs felt very plain, and we generally figured they'd end up being a little overpriced. But recent Old Navy styles have been rather boring, and it turns out even non-sale Uniqlo can be relatively cheaper, so we gave it a go. We ended up with some Pokémon shirts and Rogue One shirts, and finally some shirts that we'll wear to O Bar's Pride Party at the end of the month. And yes, we bought pairs of shirts since they're meant to augment our couple's shirt options.

So that wasn't so bad, and at least we won't feel like we're without decent clothing options in the area. We don't buy clothes a lot, but when I do, I have a harder time justifying the expense to myself versus the likes of board games and Transformers. But I'm a sucker for geeky graphic tees and their shirt material feels pretty solid, so we'll go with this for now. It was surprising that each shirt seemed to fit a little differently from the others, so we felt the need to try on each shirt in multiple sizes just to make sure we ended up with a good fit for each.

Dinner was back at Savory. It's not perfectly keto, but it's still one of the better options since we can order items that aren't so carb-rich. SM BF really doesn't have a wide range of restaurants or even stores, but we're making the most of it for now. Maybe we shouldn venture out to malls further away, but there's only so much time in the day.
