The first day of work after a long weekend is always busy. And I was definitely busy today. I'm glad I still made time for yoga this morning, as I needed that centering as I started the day with a client meeting. I think it went as well as could be expected, as we had to go over a comprehensive campaign report, and I'm glad that I was able to address all their questions. Then I spent pretty much the rest of the day finishing other reports I had leftover from last week, including another multi-month campaign report. I got most of that work done, but that last big report will need some finishing touches before my report meeting in the afternoon.
I'm back to cooking again this week, although some of our veggies didn't survive the fridge over the weekend very well. Yesterday I did a variation of our kimchi soup, but tried using upo instead of Korean radish. This was actually the first time I had ever cooked upo, and I was rather surprised by its preparation. I don't know why I thought it would be more like cooking papaya where there's a lot more "meat" involved. Instead, it's more like a cucumber since you largely just eat the thicker outer layer. It didn't have the consistency of radish, but it was a nice part of the soup nonetheless.
Today I cooked some pork sinigang, and it was the first time I had tried to scale down the recipe to the size of our induction-friendly pot. I think I got a good feel for how much meat is needed or even how many vegetables the pot can support. What surprised me was the stark difference in taste we experienced when I shifted to using the smaller sinigang mix pack versus the larger one. I thought our pot was small enough to merit the change, but I guess I really need a full pack to get the level of flavor I prefer for sinigang. The things you learn.
But I'm glad that we got this little setup settled. As much as we still have access to the main kitchen for cooking, it's nice to be able to cook in the Sietch without the need to travel a bit. As a whole, we're quite settled here and still need to figure out when we'll get around to fixing the home office attached to the main house. Since we're fully settled here and able to work efficiently enough, we haven't resumed our work figuring out the shelves there and sorting through the office stuff. I promise, we'll get back to that eventually.
Happy Tuesday, everyone.
