Friday night was a pretty fun and I somehow managed to win 5 out of the 6 games we played. The games that went well for me were Let's Go! To Japan , Rebirth, Glass Road, Roam, and Dead of Winter. The last game was Dune: Imperium, which is the one I really wanted to win (because Dune!) but Tobie managed to secure a solid win.
We were initially expecting just one friend to come over for games today, and then we'd catch up with another online via Board Game Arena. But to our surprise, both were able to come over today, so we got to reunite with our typical Friday night group.
Things began with a massive Sariwon meal that one had ordered for us. We can't get Sariwon all the way over here, so it was super nice to have it again. And we were in the best possible company for it, so it was a nice way to catch up.
For games, we kicked things off with Rebirth, which is one of the newer games to arrive at the Sietch. As mentioned above, we had just gotten to try it last night, and it was nice to be able to introduce it to more friends because it's a really solid game. Then it was straight into Mythwind so we could try out the new Friends and Family expansion and also see what had changed with the latest version of the updated rules. Some of our characters were somewhat nerfed in a way, while others just had some major quality of life improvements made to their rulebooks and such. This is a soft campaign game that could theoretically support changing players per session, but we've been treating it as a largely ongoing session for the Friday group. Thus, it was nice to have the chance to play it again, as we don't have an online alternative for this.
We're going to aim for at least one more big game before people have to go home, so we'll see how that pans out.
