As is the nature of Tuesdays (I swear this is a thing!), a bunch of board game-related items arrived today. The first was a small envelope from CGE, namely the missing alien reference sheets for SETI. I only noticed they were missing by our second game, and I promptly requested a replacement. I took about a month for the replacement to get here, but that's fine since they didn't charge me nor did it flag anything at the post office. Whew!
On the Kickstarter front, three separate deliveries arrived today for three different projects. These were the Friends and Family expansion for Mythwind, Rebirth, and finally Galactic Cruise.
The Mythwind expansion is something I'm pretty excited about since we've rather been enjoying our campaign even if we don't get to play as often as we used to. The actual expansion adds some interesting new mechanics and further populates the town with new NPCs that players can interact with. The campaign also offered a number of upgrades and I'm glad that I splurged for the metal coins and the upgraded resource markers. I have no idea when we'll find the time to pick up the campaign again, but I'm just glad that they've expanded the game in some interesting ways.
Rebirth is a Reiner Knizia game published by Mighty Boards, the same folks behind the likes of Hamlet. It's also another game that opted to use RE-Wood for its tokens - one of the first beyond CGE to do so. It nicely supports its rather ecological theme, and I'm totally game to support more projects like this. Plus we're big fans of Ra, so I want to see what craziness Knizia has introduced into this game. The rule set looks promising so I think we'll be able to try it out this weekend.
Finally, there's Galactic Cruise, which has all the feels of a Vital Lacerda game (especially with the distinct Ian O-Toole art), but it's from a different team and publisher. It's quite the big game, but after going through all the KS contents, I think it's a solid addition to our collection. It's just going to be a pain to lug around - good thing the gaming group gave Tobie a new gaming bag to help with that particular problem.
So many games, so little time, and not enough nearby players.
