Every now and then, I end up with a workday largely defined by technical support needs. Alas, today was one of those days, and I was on multiple calls and chats with Meta Support as we tried to resolve a client concern. In the end, the only solution we have left is one that I don't think is worth the consequence, so the status quo will have to do for now. There's a vague commitment to continue looking for solutions on their end, but we know that's technical support speak for "we're going to wait for you to give up". At least I tried.
Navigating customer service or technical support is a bit of a skill of mine, borne more out of patience fueled by stubbornness. Yes, it helps that I once worked in the BPO industry, so I'm quite familiar with how customer support centers work. But even then, it's one thing to handle calls yourself and another to deal with some other faceless agent on the other end of the phone. And when I'm really determined, I'll totally stay on the phone until I get to a decent resolution, whatever that may look like.
Beyond work, Tobie ordered a mini Mango Bravo for himself so we could have an early cake celebration with the family before everyone gets busier this weekend. Circumstances have ended up with us not being able to celebrate together tomorrow, thus the early birthday dinner on Tuesday night and the cake today. We did a quick candle blowing, then divided up the rapidly melting cake, and then went back to work. Such is life.
Tomorrow is Tobie's birthday, and we're certainly going to do our best to celebrate it properly. I don't have an actual gift for him this year, but I have my own stuff planned, so there's that. There's going to be time with our O Bar family, and FGTC game night, and whatever else comes to mind for the weekend.
Do make sure to greet him tomorrow!
