In my younger years, we were forbidden to speak, make noise, watch TV or play computer games between 12:00pm and 03:00pm on Good Friday because "Jesus is dying". We nearly (inadvertently) followed this old rule today since we woke up pretty late after staying up to play board games online via Board Game Arena.
Since everyone has different Holy Week family obligations (and the fact that we live quite far away from everyone, we ended up having a virtual board game night via BGA. We played a good set of games - Let's Go! To Japan!, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Tapestry, and Spots. Playing online can feel a little longer in some ways since everyone needs to familiarize themselves with the digital implementation of the rules, but it can also be faster since scoring is an automated process.
So today was a properly quiet day since we slept in and then had a proper lunch of fish and veggies. Dinner was the leftover kimchi soup. which also did not contain any red meat, so that's cool. Let's not discuss the Cheesy Eggsdasal Tobie and I went out for early in the morning after our full night of digital board game playing.
Our main activity for today is to tackle one of our (literal) puzzle escape room games. Adding the need to assemble a puzzle before you can explore the riddles and such is quite the gating mechanism and adds a fair amount of time needed to finish everything. Then we'll see if people are once again up to playing online in order to respect the holiday, as it were.
