Last night was Heat 3, O Bar's summer kickoff event, and we certainly had a lot of fun. We had a rather a solid core group of friends who joined us at the table for the night. There are certain numbers you can expect from the summer event, like a lot of beach or tropical-themed songs, and rarer things like the O Ledge also performing during the main show. This year's event included some interesting guest performers like Eva le Queen and former O Diva Angel - both of Drag Race Philippines fame. And they brought back some really ambitious performance pieces like their recreation of Lady Gaga's Abracadabra (which they had last performed the weekend I was still in Singapore) and some old favorites like the rather ridiculous swimming number. It was all so much fun.
It takes a LOT of work to put the different numbers together for an event, especially given the last big event was just last week, so they didn't have a whole lot of time to practice. The show as a whole was great with a lot of standout numbers that were really impressive. We had plenty of compliments to share with the different performers, and there's more to be said once I've had the time to watch and re-watch the videos of the different numbers and really dig into things.
A friend asked me last night why I do all that I do for the bar, which kind of boils down to free marketing for the bar. My answer was simple - I love them all. We love the O Divas, the O Boys, the O2Men, the O Ledge, and the staff so much, so of course we'll try to help spread the love for O Bar however we can. They're worth celebrating because of the amazing things they accomplish on that stage, and more people totally need to see the results of their artistry.
I've said it time and time again - O Bar is truly our second home, and we consider the people behind the bar family. And supporting family isn't even a question, right?
Today marks the start of Holy Week, which sadly means reduced O Bar operating hours. Whatever are we going to do without as many opportunities to go to O? Hahaha
