We tried to make another run to SM BF before today's game night in order to (1) get the extension for the shower filter and (2) get a replacement lightbulb for the bedroom. I had talked at length about what we needed the little pipe thing for yesterday, but the bulb was a surprise development that we only realized upon lying down. Plus, it was an easy option for a quick brunch before the drive north.
The bedroom is lit by a small chandelier with 5 bulbs and we were a little worried about matching the replacement bulb with the older ones that were still working. What I had not realized was that the older bulbs are all smaller CFL units, whereas everyone is selling LEDS for the most part. For a moment, I was tempted to just replace all the bulbs at once, but then we'd be left with 4 aging CFL bulbs with a very limited lifespan. So we just got two bulbs - one as an immediate replacement and one as a spare. The new bulb generally matches the intensity and color tone of the older bulbs, so we're not going to go crazy staring at it in bed.
The extension didn't quite work out, though. It generally fits the pipe, but the female end seems to be too thick, so it doesn't sit flush against the water source. So when we have the water flow, a fair amount starts to spill out as backflow, which is quite a waste of water and a potential hazard. So we either need to find another part in the hopes of finding something that works better...or it's time to consult with a plumber LOL. We may have reached the limits of our DIY capabilities.
After all that, we made our way to today's "surprise" game night and dove right into things. We brought some pretty big games and the session kicked off with one side playing SETI with me and the other table learning Now or Never.
I'll save the full list of the games played in my Sunday blog post.
