02E46: Gaming Surprise

Saturday - SETI Board Game

Last night's birthday show for O Diva Ruby was a heck of a lot of fun! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and that level of surprise added another layer of enjoyment for me. It was a generally good show with an interesting mix of numbers. And it ended with literal birthday party games, which was such a clever way to wrap up the show. I'm glad we set aside time to ensure we could attend the event.

We needed to sleep in after all that but woke up in the afternoon in time to confirm in-person board game plans with a friend. We weren't sure if we were pushing through until this afternoon, and then the game night sort of came together. It's quite a drive for any of our regular board game friends to get to the new Sietch and we super duper appreciate those that even consider planning a trip over. Hopefully this becomes a more regular thing.

We're still trying to find nearby gamers to play with, but the search is a little slow going. We really need some sort of location-enabled app for connecting board game players with one another. In the     meantime, we're trawling the dating apps looking for geeks that fit the bill as the apps are the main way of interacting with people in the area in a relatively remote environment.

It's really nice to get our physical board games to "move" after a few months of more limited gaming. I know we can't expect friends to come over regularly just yet, but maybe we can figure out a more regular schedule moving forward. We need the gaming for our own satisfaction and sanity, really.
