02E29: Geeky Weekend Forecast

Friday - Tahanan Lunch

It's weird that the most exciting thing today was a 2-hour management meeting. But really, as much as there's the day-to-day client stuff, it's when we can take a step back and work on improving the company that really energizes me. We all work in the business but we don't always have time to work on the business, as the saying goes. And we got a lot done in today's meeting - or at least we've mapped out what we need to do. It's easy to get lost chasing after what needs to be done immediately, that all the longer-term projects get pushed aside inadvertently. Thus such touchpoints are essentially for keeping the bigger picture in mind.

For the weekend ahead, we're just gaming online with a friend tonight because Board Game Arena is life when you live far away from everyone. But it gets the job done since we still get to play a lot of our favorite board games, albeit remotely.

Tomorrow, we're going to bite the bullet and watch Captain America: Brave New World despite the rather mixed reviews. But what is more exciting is that we're going to have a friend over tomorrow afternoon to play board games in person. Inadvertently, he's going to be our first house guest at the Sietch despite the still-messy state of things, but hopefully, he'll understand. We're still trying to build ties with games that live in the more immediate area for more regular game nights in the future, so we'll see how this goes.

Sunday we have our online Pendragon RPG session as the main highlight of the day. We still haven't managed to get any of our RPG sessions back to being in person, but maybe that's another thing that might change now that we're here. We do seem to know more RPG players on this side of the toll gates versus the north. Or maybe it just feels that way since we're focusing our sights here.

What we really need to do is also make time to resume cleaning up and organizing the old home office so that we can work there during the week. It has been super comfortable to work in the new Sietch for now, but we know that during the summer it's going to be a little unbearable. Plus for as long as we're mainly staying "downstairs", we're less motivated to go up to the main kitchen to cook our own meals. What a dilemma!
