Client work tends to come first because they pay the bills and all that. But on the flip side, there's a lot of internal stuff that still needs to be addressed. I'm always thankful when I have the headspace to focus on the business again versus keeping pace with all the external priorities because it also tends to be the more interesting work. It's a little thankless since people notice more when things are going wrong more than when things you implement make things incrementally better. But hey, those are the kicks in any company.
Google Gemini has sort of become my virtual assistant when it comes to internal policy work and other mundanities. It's to trust generative AI when it comes to more creative efforts like designing things or even coming up with witty social media copy. But for things that involved a lot of repetitive work or a need to go into finer detail...then sometimes these AI assistants can really shine and cut through a lot of the crap. You just have to be patient with whichever AI tool you end up using. I get how many view ChatGPT as the gold standard, but Gemini's advanced model is available to me now both through my personal Google One subscription and our company Google Workspace subscription, so I'm investing more time in it. I'm sure it's the same way for Microsoft users who find themselves with access to Copilot through their company subscriptions and such.
In other random thoughts, Lazada seems to dump the weirdest things into its ads. There are ridiculous things like getting ads for nail polish or other beauty products. But then there are also a lot of weird things that seem sort of useful in a vague As-Seen-On-TV sort of way. Thus I own one of those weird "ultrasonic cleaner" things for glasses and jewelry that...was only vaguely effective.
Of all the ads I've gotten, the one that seems the most useful is that soap case for travel that lets you keep a bar of soap in a way that won't make everything else in your toiletry bag sticky. As someone who travels quite regularly, it feels super useful, especially since I tend to bring a full bar of soap with me wherever I go. And the options on Lazada are insanely cheap - like within the realm of being too cheap such that the quality of the time becomes a wee bit questionable. The another thing that keeps catching my eye is some sort of hard sponge being used to buff and polish metal things like faucets, I've yet to figure out the search term to find the item just yet, so it continues to elude me. But it sort of feels like something nice to have...if it really works.
I haven't seriously looked at the small wet and dry vacuums that I've been getting a lot of ads for. The feel like a smaller version of my old Bissel Little Green Clean Machine, but I'm only considering it for cleaning our stuffed toys more than carpets or upholstery. But this is a larger purchase that requires further study and me figuring out where we'd store it when I'm not using it - which will be most of the time. Maybe I'll save this as a birthday gift for myself or something. LOL
Some of the more impractical things include a weird vegetable peeler that has a tiny receptacle for your peels at the end. It could work in theory, but I can see how the weight distribution will make using it feel very odd indeed and the tiny container for the peels really won't do much. There are also a number of strange cleaning devices that feel a little too niche to be practical. but that's the internet for you.
