December has just begun but already I can feel the weight of scheduling complications the holiday season always brings. Tobie and I have been trying to wrangle our calendars into some semblance of order but different things keep cropping up. We haven't even finalized our plans for the core Christmas season as there are a couple of dependencies we're still waiting on.
Even at work, I can feel the general resistance to productivity even though the actual holidays are still weeks away. There's still a lot that needs to get done and so it's hardly time to slack off. But the temptation is naturally there. And it doesn't help that we're starting to see everyone who is planning to take longer leaves for the coming holiday period and I know that's going to impact operations. But it's not like our first rodeo in this regard.
Our recent struggles with organizing O Bar table groups are another indicator of the holidays bearing down on us. Our tabletop game sessions have been suffering a similar fate and we're all being very conservative in what games we set up. Thus the first half of the month feels very packed while the second half is deceptively light, but that's more because we're leaving things open in order to roll with holiday-specific invitations and obligations that may come up.
Happy holidays, indeed.
The holidays are always tricky. But we will navigate through them, love. One way or another, we will. Mwahugs!
