First up - what the heck is going on at NAIA Terminal 3? The news has mainly focused on Cebu Pacific as they seem to be the most affected airline. I just hope that this won't complicate things for me when I fly back on Friday as Singapore Airlines lands at T3 as well.
From cursory research efforts to purchase - my sales cycle is somewhat thorough but also faster than it probably should be. After looking at different options and figuring out which are actually available in the Philippines, I finally decided to give Alpaka gear a go - at least in terms of their Zip Card Pouch. It initially seemed best to go with a local Lazada reseller to get the item, but further study of the website led me to discover that (1) they ship directly to the Philippines, (2) they have a rewards program (and I now have a referral link!), and they have multiple 10% and 15% discount offers depending on whether you subscribe to their newsletter or download their app. So similar to my decision to get the older Kindle Oasis directly from Amazon, I ended up getting the wallet directly from Alpaka.
Their rewards program does a great job of quickly throwing you into their community since it offers points for following their various social media accounts or joining their dedicated Facebook group. Clearly, the founders learned a lot from starting via the crowdfunding route 8 years ago and they seem to have some very strong values and principles, which help to make the brand feel more appealing. I can totally get behind a bunch of nerds who set out to create interesting and very functional bags and accessories using a lot of recycled materials all under a strong sustainability push.
So yeah, I've gone pretty deep into their ecosystem and already wondering if I'll start shifting to use more of their products. But I'm trying to be smart by waiting for the wallet first and seeing how I feel about it before buying more things from them. Their HUB Ecosystem of clips, magnets, and other things rather speaks to the nerd in me and I kinda want to see if I can tweak things in my life accordingly. One step at a time...
Because of this unscheduled wallet purchase, I've decided to hold off on buying copies of two Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed board games - Crossroads of Destiny and Aang's Destiny (based on the Hogwarts Battle system). They're both nice-to-have games but not exactly priority acquisitions. I got a little stressed when the Destiny game was showing to be running out of stock but those inventory numbers can shift from 2 to 11 in the same day, so it's all just some sales tactic. It was a lot more important that I get a new Kindle and to get this wallet, so these board games can wait a bit longer...provided I don't get low stock warnings for both games at the same time or something.
