We're nearing the end of It's Okay to Not Be Okay and I've been struggling to get on board with the show's primary romance. I know there's a sincere effort to showcase mental health concerns and the longer-term impact of various forms of trauma, but the layer of romance added to all this feels weirdly tacked on. Or maybe I just can't buy into why our lead characters are into each other and I've yet to feel like they're worth rooting for.
When it comes to K-Dramas, they should eventually get you to appreciate the focus couple regardless of the premise of the show - this is especially true for the very romantic ones. In this case, everyone's baggage seems to get in the way of more genuine connections. And now the show is almost over and I don't know what they're going to do to really tie everything together.
Beyond that, we also finished Hazbin Hotel's first season and it was...okay. The language is a lot more colorful than it probably needed to be, but I guess they really wanted to stress the characters are demonic in nature. The music was a little uneven but some songs were quite a lot of fun. I'd still wait for a second season if it gets that far - the story as enough hooks in it to get anyone started.
And with the end of Star Trek: Prodigy, I think we need to swing back for another science fiction show. We should probably go back to For All Mankind or something - that would still be easier to swallow than something older like Babylon 5. Beyond that, we're still working our way through 9-1-1 and we actually haven't finished the second half of The Bear for one reason or another. Watching Buck being dumb is a lot easier than the kitchen of The Bear.
