Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 230
Halloween feels rather off this year. I mean obviously, the pandemic has changed everything and we're still under quarantine even though they keep redefining the GCQ rules such that it's more and more relaxed with every week. But it's not relaxed enough for decent events of any sort beyond the usual online Zoom calls and the like.
Needless to say, it's a weird time.
We managed to have a decent Halloween event for work. While ultimately another Google Meet call, we sent everyone food and candy, and people dressed up in different costumes or at least wore funny hats. And we got to celebrate the completion of the murder mystery they've had running on our Facebook page, which was a really good piece of content development.
Baduy Pride tonight was okay, but not quite the usual craziness like we've had during some other Fridays. Then again, we did still choose a gaming-centric topic and a lot of "regulars" were busy with other events since so many Halloween events are tonight and not tomorrow.
Tomorrow we have an online Detective game scheduled, so that's something to look forward to. We're going to start the L.A. Crimes expansion and we've added another player to round out our team of investigators. And that'll take up a better part of the afternoon.
But in the evening....there's still nothing. And it's sort of frustrating that one of the rare times that Halloween falls on a Saturday, we're all under lockdown and places like O Bar aren't allowed to operate. This would have been the perfect time for a big O Bar event night with special guests, amazing performances, and all that fun stuff.
And I know, this long into the lockdown we should stop obsessing over this sort of thing. There's little benefit in lamenting what has been lost or what we've been denied, but I suppose we can't help it at times. We all want to go back to better times.
In the meantime, we celebrate the little wins we have for now. And I guess I should prepare for our next online social interaction with friends whether through a FB Messsenger Room or whatever.
It is what it is.
