After 30+ minutes to clear Philippine Immigration I'm drenched in sweat and waiting for the car our folks hired to take us back to Quezon City.

Suffice to say, we're officially home. Good job, Manila.

From Inquirer.net There's been a lot of debate as of late when it comes to the subject of political dynasties in Philippine politics. The usual argument against legislation preventing the proliferation of such dynasties is the need to allow the skills and merit of the individual win out over any desire to stop such dynasties from thriving. I mean come on, there is a Wikipedia article dedicated solely to discussing Philippine political dynastie s. WHY DOES THIS EVEN EXIST? The article does indicate that at least 60% of the Philippine Congress involves representatives with relatives (whether by blood or through marriage) in some sort of an elected position. And this has not changed since before the Marcos era either. Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 1150 Because I knew Monday was going to be quite a Monday, I booked us tickets to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after work. We just got back from watching it and we both enjoyed the movie a lot. It's a great bookend to Gunn's work at Marvel and for the Guardians themselves. I don't want to get into spoilers, but I'll just stress that I really liked it even if it may not be immediately accessible to everyone unless they've invested in the journey of this team over the years. During the drive home, I got to thinking about the 2008 Abnett and Lanning run of Guardians of the Galaxy that obviously played a key role in inspiring this franchise. 02C71: 18 Years of O Bar's Ongoing Legacy

In my early gay years, my group of friends at the time was what made going out to clubs so fun. Whether it was Bed or Government, we stuck with our group and everything worked out. I'd drink a bit, dance a bit, and just watch people and that was it. I know it was also a personal choice that I didn't really go beyond our friend circle and meet other people, but that is also the nature of those places to some degree. When Tobie started bringing me to O Bar while we were still getting to know each other, it was a very different experience. Its humbler space in Malate could be described as "cozy", I suppose, and yet they managed to put on drag shows regularly on stage that was little more than a riser. In time, I got to meet the many friends Tobie had made at the bar including a good number of the staff - which was initially weird to me at the time. I don't think I had ever bothered to get to know any of the waiters at other bars. But that was the general vibe at O B
