03037: Double Gamer Night

Saturday - Carcassonne

So our Friday night gaming became a bit more colorfully eventful because we ended up with two different guests in sequence. It's one of the quirks of having players who live nearby and turn out to be free even in the wee hours of the night.

Our first guest was familiar with Magic and Pokémon, but relatively newer to modern board games apart from a few party things. So our game roster tried to lean into his experience, starting with Legendary: A Marvel Deck-Building Game. We shifted to lighter stuff after, like Spots, tried out the relatively new 108 Outlaws from Singapore, and finally Haunted Mouse. Unfortunately, he had work early Saturday morning, so we had to wrap things up earlier than we would have liked.

That left us feeling like we had a lot of Friday night left, and I had been chatting with one of the nearby friends we had just inducted into the board game hobby. We lived pretty nearby, and he was game to come over, so the game night continued. He has been pushing for heavier stuff, so we introduced him to two gaming staples - Lords of Waterdeep and Carcassonne

We have another friend coming over today for more gaming, so it's going to be a full Saturday for us. The only concern is the rather steady rains throughout the weekend that are making travel around Metro Manila even more challenging.
