0302D: Non-Blogging Headspace

Wednesday - Tahanan Lunch

I feel like I've been struggling to update this blog this week. I use it to decompress after my day, but I also make a conscious effort to avoid talking about work in any significant degree of detail. However, work takes up most of my workweek, so that leaves a huge chunk of time that I can't really talk about. Sometimes I make vague allusions to what's going on at work, but this only really works when things are a bit eventful somehow. But on days that are just okay and generally productive, I can't even do that.

This is when I turn to the news for inspiration, because I also blog to act as a weird part of the larger historical record of this period. And we do have the ongoing impeachment trial as a potential topic for discussion. But seriously, have you been following the news? It's painful to follow the proceedings in detail; I do my best to limit myself to news summaries and the like, but I can only avoid so much. All I can say is that the Defense is being particularly obstinate, as expected. What I wasn't quite expecting was how blatantly partisan some of the other senator-judges are acting in this trial versus our previous ones.

Maybe it's the combination of work "just" being work and the news being abysmal that has me struggling with figuring out what to write. That's life in the Philippines for you, I guess.
