Last night was the birthday show for LetLet, mother to many, given her long-running legacy as an icon in the local drag scene. She was there at the very beginning of O Bar over 20 years ago, and she continues to captivate audiences with her unique style and charm night after night. I swear, every time we bring new friends to O Bar, they often gravitate to LetLet as one of their initial favorites among the O Divas.
The show itself was a great selection of many numbers she has popularized over the years, or numbers that featured artists that she likes to impersonate on stage. We opened with a very Broadway-adjacent series of numbers, including songs from Cabaret, which I really enjoyed. And the sheer variety of numbers made for a very fun night indeed.
The only sad point was that it was just Tobie, a friend, and me sharing a table last night instead of a full table of 6. Our struggles with assembling O Bar table groups continue and seem to be the new norm at this point. We're still going to keep trying because it's more fun to celebrate these O Bar events with friends. But we're also not bending over backwards for people who aren't taking things as seriously as we do. There were a few other friends at the bar, at least, and it's always nice to reconnect. But yeah, we're definitely feeling how a lot of people have moved on to other entertainments and priorities.
It has been a very quiet Sunday. We made sure to drop by the local Kadiwa market right after O Bar. Every time we sleep first and try to catch the market after a nap, we end up missing the market entirely. We got some great deals on quality produce and fresh eggs, as usual. It really makes a lot of sense. Our online RPG session didn't push through this afternoon, but at least we got to use some of the time to help Tobie's mom complete her preparations for her trip this week. And now we're just streaming shows and such until it's time for bed.
I hope you all had a great weekend, too.
