There's always a bit of a build-up when it comes to these Singapore trips because you think it's still a big trip, and we're supposed to get excited for trips. But I go back and forth to Singapore so often, it can also feel very routine. This is not to belittle the value of being able to go here at all, but I guess it's more because most of these trips aren't vacations, so I arrive, and then I have to go to work the next day. And the day after that. I have quality time with the nephews after work, but those times can be quite limited during the workweek. We'll make up for things over the weekend, but it all goes by so quickly.
Case in point - today was a pretty regular (and busy) Wednesday workday. I had to catch up on the stuff I had missed yesterday, and tried to get ahead of the curve with others. I'm so glad that I have a new computer to work with - that is really speeding things along. The only short-term hurdle is retraining my fingers to work with the size of this keyboard. You know how it is - just shift things a little, and you end up typing complete gibberish as your fingers end up on the wrong keys here and there. But performance-wise, it's proving to be an excellent unit, and that'll eliminate a lot of my frustrations since the Legion machine broke down.
No big plans set in stone, but we're definitely mapping a trip to Orchard at some point so that we can go to Books Kinokuniya and also check out the LEGO Shophouse display at Orchard Design. We'll need to keep the boys entertained over the weekend, so some sort of outdoor activity will be required. But we're keeping things loose in order to be able to just enjoy our time together.
Beyond things like transforming different Transformers over and over again, my new Uncle Duties now include needing to read bedtime stories to help my younger nephew go to sleep. It's a fun exercise, even if I can't narrate too loudly since his older brother ends up sleeping earlier, since he has to get up crazy early for school. Apparently, there's a 6-book minimum that he's trying to impose on me, although on the first night, he barely lasted one. Today I had to go through the full six and then add in a bonus story. Thank the starts I vaguely remember the structure of The Little Red Hen.
Good times.
