So...Fifth Solomon. *sigh* 🙄
Moving on.
We're working our way through the first season of Severance, and the show is definitely right up our alley. The whole bit about memory manipulation and segmenting minds has me and Tobie thinking a lot about the Lacuna RPG. One could definitely play out some sort of Severance-adjacent story using that system as the foundation. But yeah, the whole narrative premise and the occasional surreal bits are making for some great television. We're probably going to watch all the way through to the second season at this rate.
I've now read 5 of the Vet Shop Boys books and only have one more left in my Kindle library. The books are very fluffy, and this far into the series, I've finally realized what nags me a bit about the books. As much as they're more like rom-coms, they're still books with very little conflict. Even comedic K-Dramas have more conflict than these things, and the lack of that bit of struggle or feeling like the characters had to fight for their happy endings. But the characters are a lot more coherent in this series versus the likes of Franklin U, which has different authors writing the different books, resulting in very different vibes. I don't think I like the series enough to buy the remaining books at full price. I'll go through the last one I have and then wait for the remaining titles to go on sale.
Not sure what I'm going to read next as part of my Pride Month queer novel commitment. Going with a series took a lot of the decision-making out of it. And as I get to the end of my purchased titles...I need a new direction. I'm sure I'll have other books in my collection that belong to other ongoing collections or something. We'll see.
Oh, and you should all read Bloom. That's some serious Heartstopper (albeit more grounded) content right there.
