As much as I had yesterday off, it still felt weird to need to work today when Tobie got to sleep in. The holiday mood was reinforced by Tobie's sister and nephew dropping by, resulting in a nice little family lunch that I eventually had to leave in order to get back to work. My day was still productive for the most part since I had a lot of end-of-month/start-of-month tasks to settle. But still, it was definitely hard to shake off the long weekend lethargy.
The new filter for the shower seems to be working okay, although the initial results are already troubling. I figured that we'd need to replace the filter at least once a month, but during this initial period, we may need to change it after 2 weeks instead. We're still expecting this to be a temporary situation until the worst of the silt and sediment clears from the pressure tank that pushes water into the Sietch. At the very least, we know the filter is doing its job - and I did make sure to get two replacement filters right off the bat when I ordered this.
In other news, I managed to get through the old runner's yoga flow this morning, although it still felt like quite the struggle. I managed a flow the other week, but skipped all of last week, so I'm trying to get back on the horse again. It's a new month and a new quarter, so it's as good a time as any. I can feel how out of shape I am and how my stomach feels bigger than it used to be the last time I worked out in January. But I gotta start somewhere.
The other area of opportunity is working on my diet. We haven't been cooking as much as we should and most of the delivery options we have access to don't even qualify as low-carb. Thus, I concede that I've been rather off the rains these past months and I'm paying the price. And the primary way of getting back to a more controlled diet involves cooking our own meals whenever possible. The addition of the new induction cooker should open up some options, as it's easy to give into laziness when the main kitchen is more than a few steps away. I didn't cook today, but I promise to cook tomorrow.
