02E47: Reuniting With Friday Game Friends

Sunday - Santorini

While we're still trying to find people to game with in the area, it was nice to have our more regular gaming friends over at the Sietch yesterday for some actual gaming at a shared table versus playing on Board Game Arena. And yesterday's game session went on even longer than expected, which made things all the more enjoyable.

The first half of the game night included introducing a number of games to our first guest. This included the clever roll-and-write Three Sisters, the rather massive SETI, the gorgeous Santorini (Pantheon Edition!), and finally Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game. Then our second guest arrived despite the lateness of the hour because of the urgent need to share updates and the hopes of playing a few more games. Thus we had a joint session of Bus & Stop before we had to change shifts. That brought us back to three players, and we used this opportunity to go through the full tutorial for Race to the Raft (after not playing after the Kickstarter fulfilled its obligations) and then wrapped things up with Incan Gold, because who doesn't love push-your-luck games, right?

I know we can't game on a nearly-weekly basis like we used to given we live much further away now. But it was nice to have our Friday crew back together even just for a single night for a still-awesome night of gaming. I hope we can manage this again, even if on a more limited basis like once a month or something.

Gaming until sunrise meant needing to sleep in again today. We woke up just in time to for a quick brunch before we had to jump onto Google Meet for our Pendragon RPG session. Some of our RPG sessions for different games have been a little inconsistent as of late due to one real-life complication or another, so I'm glad that we pushed through with this game today. There's a lot going on in our little adventure and we ended this session to clear our current story arc at the very least. Then we'll see how things go next month.

It has been a nicely productive weekend indeed.
