02E39: Sunday Activities

Sunday - Dian Xiao Er Lunch

It has been a rather rainy weekend in Singapore, which in turn has significantly limited our outside activity options. Plus it's the weekend - you only want to invest so much effort into things. So like yesterday, today was mainly about hanging out with the nephews while I tried to squeeze in reading time here and there. Helping to keep the two in check certainly contributes to my step count for the day plus there are a lot of weird conversations we get into. Their interests are really developing like how both of them are playing Minecraft on their tablets and the younger one has actually started to get into Transformers, which warms my geeky little heart. They're both growing up so fast.

I have cleared three of Michael Thomas Ford's books this week alone and I've already started the fourth one today. However...it's not a gay-centric story, and that's totally throwing me off. It has the same cover style as his other gay books, but this one is a family-centric murder mystery and I'm not sure why the publisher wanted it to look like it was in the same theme. Sure, it helps sell the book  - I'm the one who got it on sale and agreed because of my interest in the author and I didn't bother reading the write-up beforehand. It's still a decent book - it's just not what I was expecting given the other books of his that I've read this week.

I'm also still working my way through the last of the Krakoan Age X-titles, and this weekend's focus has been Wolverine. I was never a big fan but I get why he has a solo title while others don't. This part of his title ended up taking over the X-Force plotlines when they still had their own title and it gets kinda bonkers in terms of how far they push Beast's character. I'm undecided if I "like" this whole arc, but I will give it a fair shake like the rest of the Fall of X-related material.

I have two more full workdays in Singapore and then I fly back on Wednesday. I haven't covered some of my pre-flight errands for the family and I'm typing this now as a reminder to myself to get those settled. The end of this trip will all become very real once I get my check-in reminder for the flight, which should trigger around noon. That's just the way these things go.
