02E35: Singapore Daylight

Wednesday - Spinach Yong Tau Foo

I had a lot of ads work today, and that required me to have my brain in a specific mode. This is different from when I sit down to work on reports as that requires deeper thinking and whatever. It's the first week of the month, so reports will be waiting just around the corner. One thing at a time, folks!

As always, there's not much to discuss about how this trip is going since work is the primary activity. It has surprised me that it's already Wednesday as that means we have our two big meetings over the next two days (the main reason for this trip) and then it'll be the weekend. That'll generally mean quality time with the family unless I go crazy and actually make plans with other friends in the area. Don't hold your breath just yet.

I'm pretty sure I've written about how it feels like everyone ends up working longer since the sun is still out past 06:00pm. This quirk of Singapore choosing to stay in the GMT+8 timezone despite its location means that it can feel like there's more daylight, so you inevitably stay active. So I end up finishing my workdays even later when I'm here and still wonder why I feel so tired at the end of the day.

This is not to say my days have been bad or anything. If anything, it's nice to be back in the office again and be able to coordinate with people in person as opposed to just via Gather Town or Google Meet. It is a weird gift to be able to just walk over to a colleague's desk and ask whatever question I need to ask versus just starting a chat. Working from home is great, don't get me wrong. But there are nuances to in-person work that are uniquely helpful.

That's it for today. I want to veg out and read a bit more before bed or something.
