Our first game night at the new Sietch was a pretty good one. Since it was more of an introductory session, we got to revisit beloved staples along with some less-played parts of the collection that are still a lot of fun. Our warm-up games consisted of Splendor, Azul, and Cascadia. But then we started to go into weirder territory with games like Ra, Forbidden Island, and the Thunderbirds board game. Then we finished up with some quirkier card games - Lost Legacy, Order Overload Cafe, and finally Sea Salt & Paper. And while we didn't get any of our bigger (or newer) games to the table just yet, we still had a great time.
It was just nice to host again, period. Gaming online is fun and bringing games to other people's houses is cool, too. But having access to our full board game library during a game night is still a different experience, despite occasional bits of option paralysis given the sheer range of options available. But that also means we get to adjust the flow of the game night based on how people are feeling or in response to how they reacted to a particular game. So here's to hopefully hosting more game nights in the near future!
Today has been more chill. Our main agenda item was our afternoon Pendragon RPG session, which remains a virtual thing. All of our RPGs are still strictly online, which at least helps ensure they happen even if the experience is rather different versus when we game in person. Today's game was plagued by one player needing to bow out and some internet connection issues, which made for a less-than-ideal session, but we still got through it.
I've gotten all of my O Bar videos uploaded to YouTube, which is quite a relief after months of always feeling like I was playing catch up. I don't know how long this will last as I'm sure the next wave of events will result in a glut of videos getting added to the queue. But it's a good problem to have, in a manner of speaking. I still have to catch up with my photo processing, but I should have a bit more time for that now that the video queue isn't demanding as much of my attention.
On a related note, I've been scouring the internet for videos of the Maxiverse concert that was staged at the Aliw Theater last night. We hadn't been able to commit to the event since tickets had gone on sale while we were neck-deep in our move south. But given that Maxie made sure to include many of the O Divas and even the O Boys among the performances, I wanted to see how things had turned out. It was certainly a very diverse experience and not at all like your "traditional" concert flow, at least from the looks of it. I'm glad that more people who probably don't go to O Bar a lot got to experience a taste of the brilliant artistry that the different O performers bring to the stage each and every night. They deserve all the love.
