For this Chinese New Year holiday, what did we accomplish? That's probably a weird question to ask, but hey, we're a family of people who get things done. But I will admit, we still had a bit of a holiday given what we managed to clear.
Last night my O Bar video processing has gotten as far as the first half of Manza's birthday show, so that's good. I still have quite a number of videos left in queue and I hope to get more done before Bernie's birthday show this Friday. I'm in a constant battle to free up space on my phone so that I can record more videos and fill up my phone again. After I had gotten that far, I managed to re-sleeve the rest of the cards for Tang Garden using the upgraded premium sleeves I had ordered via the last Kickstarter.
We still got a full night's sleep, which is a gift in itself. Then I set to work to wash our older pillows, which took a bit more time as our machine can only fit one pillow at a time. I also ran a last load of lights, so it was a full day of laundry. While all that was going on, I ended up hunkering down to figure out the existing wiring in the old home office here and found out that most of the wires were for things no longer in use! Cue a lot of untangling, assessing wires, and tagging cables for future disposal. It was one of those classic situations were tech stuff just piled up and as things were upgraded, older things weren't removed. It wasn't the most dramatic accomplishment as part of our moving in process, but it still felt good to have stuff sorted. There's still more to tidy up and arrange, but I still got a lot done.
Tobie set about the bittersweet effort of packing up old TRPG books for shipping as he has been trying to sell off his older books. We're in a big digitization and decluttering effort given the move and this is his contribution to things. At least he's making an effort to sell them - a lot of my older books have just been added to a larger donation pile together with other books from the family. It'll be interesting to see where they'll eventually end up.
Outside of all that, we still had a modest Chinese New Year celebration. We had talked about plans for what to do for today and ended up agreeing to order...Singaporean food! It wasn't quite Chinese food, but it was still comforting and celebratory. So lunch was a mix of things like chicken rice, char kway teow, and kailan. We didn't toss the noodles as per custom, but we still had a great lunch.
Our only other non-organizing activity was trying to step out to check out the somewhat trendy coffeeshop right outside the village. I know now the distance from the house to the village gate is just over a kilometer, which is a healthy amount of steps. The shop was okay and the coffee decent...until I nudged the table with my knee and ended up spilling our drinks. I had been mostly done with mine but Tobie had barely touched his. The shame! We waited for them to clean up and then left. Maybe we'll still to delivery moving forward.
I hope you all had a good holiday. I want to process more videos tonight then maybe make some headway with the the shelves downstairs while Tobie gets some sleep. I'm still on holiday tomorrow, so might as well try to make the most of the time somehow.
