We're still about halfway through the unpacking process for the new Sietch, but we're also making good headway with starting to get things organized. Plus a lot of other things happened quickly, so it was a good day.
Our day started with PLDT coming to move our internet service. I wasn't expecting them to coordinate a day after our move, but I guess the techs needed something to do as they were here first thing and got everything set up. So for those who care about these things, our landline number remains unchanged and is active again. That was some really speedy service. I'm already trying to figure out how to make the most of the fact that this household has two different internet connections from two different providers. I'm already exploring affordable ways of adding a load balancer to things so that we can toggle between the connections but hook everything up to a single mesh WiFi network. I have some equipment purchases to make during the next mega sale period.
We also made a run to the nearby SM for a few supply essentials. I was determined to get our washing machine up and running and was sure we just needed an adapter for the faucet to work with our machine's hose. It took some back and forth with the staff for them to help us find what we needed but to also explain how it would work. We got there in the end after a bit of a false start, but I'm just glad the machine is up and running again. Perhaps I'll run a load tomorrow.
The more intimidating part of the unpacking effort thus far is how many boxes of books we ended up with. Shelf space is at a big of a premium as not all of the shelves survived the trip over - they broke apart when we tried to disassemble them. So we're further down shelves and haven't gone back to the old solutions of creating towers of board games around the place. There are some built-in shelves that we also need to figure out how to make the best use of, whether that means using them for books or board games or whatever.
The bigger push is to clear the boxes as soon as possible in order to reclaim space and fulfill our obligations to the moving company. Plus we just want to start feeling normal again - whatever that is going to mean. Everything is changing (for the better), and it'll be a while before we figure out what that routine is going to be like. But hey, one step at a time.
Empty the boxes. Sort all of our stuff again. Get things organized and functional.
Plus I really NEED to find the coffeemaker soon. My caffeine intake is becoming largely dependent on delivery options.
