02DF4: Moving Weekend Progress

Sunday - Deuces Coffee

I had initially thought that dinner with a friend would be relatively quick given our need to continue moving stuff South loomed over us. But we ended up taking our time enjoying a very hearty sendoff dinner for the current BGC branch of Tang and then even made time for a round of Monkey Palace before getting back to the work of packing. This was not the most efficient use of our time, but it was definitely a good way to spend the night. There's still a lot of moving work ahead of us, but at least we took time to reconnect with a good friend and generally still had a bit of the weekend to ourselves.

Today's agenda wasn't as aggressive on the moving front. We had committed to at least one trip South - our fifth for the weekend. But we also had to go to SM to pick up Tobie's updated glasses and we figured that we might as well do a little grocery shopping as we've been overly reliant on food deliveries ever since we got back from Tagaytay. This was still a bit of work, but at least Sunday remained productive.

We have moved and set up 5 of our shorter hardware shelves in the new place and a lot of stuff is now off the floor, giving us more room to think. We're slowly mapping out where to put everything and I think the new Sietch is truly starting to come together. But it's still pretty early, so we'll see how things pan out. We also got to have a nice dinner with Tobie's mom, which I feel is pretty important given we're moving in with her. We have a separate space to ourselves, but of course, I want us to get along and not feel like we've overly inconvenienced her with all the changes we're putting the household through this year.

We have our two survey calls scheduled with different moving companies and I'm very curious to hear how they'll quote for the work needed. Admittedly, we're more concerned that there isn't enough time to properly hire anyone to help with the move as we have just over a week until the end of our contract date. Their availability to help will become the larger point of consideration more than the cost, I feel. We know it's going to cost a lot either way - we just want to get things done.

Slowly but surely. But man, we're definitely feeling a different kind of tired this weekend. I'm hoping to find time for a massage this week before we fully leave BGC, but a lot of our other plans will depend on what the moving companies say.
