We just finished another trip to ParaƱaque to haul more of our things to the new place - our third trip for the weekend. We cleared a few more things from the house and took the time to assemble 3 of our hardware shelves in order to get the board games off the floor and make space for the rest of the things that we still need to haul over. We could have just rushed back and forth to get more things over, but we also need to factor in Tobie's driving efforts, so two trips a day is still a lot.
The current Sietch is starting to clear up as the new Sietch begins to fill and it's a weird feeling. We're definitely going to miss this place as it carries quite a lot of memories of fun times. But we're also looking forward to being in the South and all the new adventures we'll have there. Getting the stuff hauled over is just the first step in this process. It's going to take a while before we figure out where everything should go and how we want to organize things and all that fun stuff.
Just today, I made some initial efforts to get the board games sorted in the shelves as Tobie assembled them. There was a general effort to keep similar games together, but sorting board games comes with the geometric challenge of seeing if the related games actually fit together in the space you assign it to. Plus there's the annoyance that we haven't quite moved all of the games over, so even as I sorted things there, some games were still "missing" as they were back in BGC. The current arrangement is far from final and it's going to be a while before things will be to anyone's true satisfaction.
Despite all that, I did feel a lot better as the shelves got set up as the mound of things in the middle of the space started to feel a little less daunting. It was starting to feel like we wouldn't have enough temp space for everything, but things started to make more sense once we got them off the floor. A lot of the current Sietch was salvaged thanks to the shelves that Tobie has acquired over the years, even if the resulting space sort of feels more like a store or a library with the shelves defining new paths within the space. It'll be the same case over there and we'll figure out where everything will go in time.
I'm sure my blog tomorrow is going to sound like more of the same, so feel free to skip this weekend's updates if it's not your thing. It's what's dominating our time after all and it's all I can think about, thus it's also all I can write about.
For now, we're going to get a good dinner before we load up the car for another trip.
