Today felt... comforting. It's always nice when the family is together, and it helps that we're in a house that's big enough to fully accomodate us including the nephews. It's easy to slip into old routines like my sister taking on a lot of the cooking while I support with things like the laundry. But there are new obligations like helping with the boys, who will always be a bit of a handful given how quirkily precious they can be. And finally, there's the new dog, and I've been happily trying to take those related chores on as well.
I'm glad that there's no more awkwardness with the boys. From the very first night they arrived I was back in full Uncle mode with both of them making various requests. And I recognize I can be a bit of a sucker when it comes to the two of them and I'm pretty sure they recognize that.
The other big bit of progress is how much better my walls with Koji the family Rottweiler, have been. As a puppy, he's terribly full of energy and the walks are needed to help burn some off that off. I've been working on getting him to stay beside me versus chomping at the bit to go ahead and he was already doing quite better with just my walks. My sister brought one of her specialized collars and that has made it even easier to walk him without feeling like you're choking him a bit as you hold him back.
After all that, we still found some time to go back to the Ticket to Ride legacy game we had started. I would like to get to the end of the campaign before I go back to BGC, but it may be a little close given the timing of things. I suppose it depends on what we'll busy ourselves with over the rest of the weekend.
