Our current active shoes are Alchemy of Souls and For All Mankind, apart from ongoing shows still going through the weekly release cycle.
As far as K-Dramas go, Alchemy is an odd duck. I get how they wanted to make this big fantasy piece as the primary narrative, and I'm generally there. Their elemental magic is interesting but at times inconsistent and everything feels like it still boils down to water. There's still a love story hidden in all this political intrigue but it's not one that I can buy into easily. It doesn't help that the bigger question of soul shifters and other artifacts sort of muddies things up.
For All Mankind is solid and it wasn't intentional on our part to wait so long before starting the second season. It's by the guy who breathed the Battlestar Galactica reboot into life and thus has the heavy drama feels permeating through every episode. It's not the lightest TV viewing experience, but it's solid and definitely checks particularly geeky watching. I don't know if we'll keep going to take a break again after this second season. We'll see how it goes.
In terms of ongoing shows...the only one that is truly fulfilling is Star Trek: Lower Decks. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew just started, so it may be too early to really determine if we really like the show or not. But it's precisely the lack of more interesting ongoing shows that has us going back to older content again.
But that's how it is. It's not like we're ever lacking for interesting content to consume in these modern times. If anything, there's always too much of it and we're probably never going to get around to watching everything that we want to watch within our lifetimes. It's a rather interesting thought.
