02DC1: Early Anniversary Stuff

Saturday - Kazunori Appetizers

Last night's catch-up game session was a delight. As much as we all see each other fairly often, I think even a few weeks away felt like too long, so we were all so happy to be back together. After sharing important updates, we dove right into our games for the night. The list isn't long but the experiences themselves were rich. We played Wyrmspan, Sea Salt & Paper, Spots, and finally Arcs.

We managed to wake up as planned for our big Kazunori omakase lunch appointment. Funnily, we got the exact same table as the last time we had gone, so it made for an interesting way to compare the two experiences. I think the menu today was a lot more robust and a lot more visually creative. And while it's not like we didn't enjoy the first time we had gone here, this experience did feel rather more impressive.

Towards the end of the meal our server asked how long we had been together as she served us an additional complimentary anniversary desert. When we told her that we've been together for 15 years, she kind of did a double-take, then ended up asking us some more questions about how we met and what tips we had for staying together this long.

I will concede that the "achievement" does surprise me as well. And while one can argue that 15 years isn't that much more significant versus 14 years (from a numerical standpoint), but as a society we do tend to gravitate towards 5 and 10 year markers. Good job, Base 10!

Regardless, I am still happy that we're still going strong.

We ended up just chilling at home after the meal as I processed another night's worth of O Bar videos while we left Outside running on Netflix. We then joined the building Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which was as cheesy as one could expect from this sort of thing. But we had a full marching band playing Christmas carols plus a dance group that put on a rather impressive show. It wasn't anything O Bar-worthy, but it was still great, especially for an activity put together by the building staff.

Now we need to get ready for tonight's musicals night at O Bar. This anniversary requires the proper participation of our O Bar family, especially given how the bar has played such a big role in our shared lives.
